Pizza! Pizza!

I LOVE pizza. Frozen, school cafeteria style, thin, thick, pesto, marina….whatever, pizza has always been good to me.

Except today!!!

Ugh I met the first pizza I couldn’t and wouldn’t polish off. It was Alondra’s California Pie. The pizza crust here is always good so I can’t complain about that. But the toppings on this pizza just does not work. There’s a marinara base, mozzarella cheese, small chunks of chicken, pineapple and sesame seeds drenched in soupy teriyaki sauce. YAKI! It was all mush near the center. The marinara and teriyaki didn’t go well and the soupy sauce caused the cheese to get all clumpy and basically fall off as you tried to pick it up.

Alondra’s has some really good food and pizza, this just isn’t one of them.

I Scream! You Scream!

After leaving work today my husband and I had dinner at Chipotle which is always good, but we weren’t full. So for dessert we headed to Fosselman’s. I am NOT an ice cream fan, but he loves it with a passion….and I needed to get full.

Fosselman’s is one of those old school ice cream parlors with jars/barrels of candy and nostalgic pictures on the wall. Since it’s so close by, I’ve been here many many times, but today it was especially crowded and I noticed everyone was so happy. It was so loud with people talking and laughing I could barely have a conversation with Vu (husband). It must be something about eating the freshly made ice cream or being in that environment. Didn’t even hear crying or whining from the little ones around!

Bacon Dogs

If you’ve been to downtown LA, you’ve probably had a bacon wrapped hot dog from the many roadside stands. Two days ago I looked through the grocery store ads and saw hot dogs that were preservatives and nitrate free. YAY!!! Since being pregnant the doctors say NO HOT DOGS because of the nitrates….hahaha….not today doc.

I just wrapped these hot dogs with bacon and while those were grilling so were some diced onions.

Yum! I topped these with homemade guacamole, grilled onions, mayo, mustard and ketchup.

I’ve never made brussel sprouts before, but saw some at the farmer’s market and had to try it since they’re so cute. These were cooked in bacon rendering and olive oil with crushed red pepper. The bacon came back in the pan as topping of course.

Happy Fourth of July!

Nothing like starting off a Sunday morning at the farmer’s market. Especially getting the chance to see someone walking (pulling) her pet snapping turtle.

Have a great holiday!

I’m Back!!!

So I’ve been gone for a few months now and I’m finally back! Since becoming pregnant, my relationship with food has been like a roller coaster, with me only wanting Slurpees for a few days straight and then a slab of ribs the next. Below is just a small portion of my eating adventures from the last few months.

Where Am I?
